We are…. first of all a people, a people called by God, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, to continue the mission of Jesus, within the residential neighborhood communities of Rockford’s geographical area known as “Northwest Rockford”
the reality of Northwest Rockford as “Neighborhoods of Choice” offering a safe and desirable place to live, work, worship and care for our families.
Communities can suffer a steady, almost unnoticed decline and deterioration over long periods of time. Because of the long and gradual nature of the decline it often becomes a surprise or a crisis of the moment when the decline is finally recognized!
A parish, as a reflection of its “community” -its neighborhood- and the community it serves does not need to suffer from a steady decline; however it can become a self-fulfilling prophecy through neglect.
A parish exists not for itself, but for the mission of Christ. We are the Body of Christ, and as such we are individually and collectively as a parish called to serve one another in our parish community, as well as all around us in our broader community.
